Case Study
Olympus • 2023/24
Olympus Winter & Ibe develops and designs world-leading, clinically advanced precision technologies and services. In order to further serve this high quality standard, the digital user interfaces were focused even more intensively on the user. User-centered design, design thinking, prototyping and user testing were part of this exciting and challenging task.
Key contributions • UX Consulting, Concept, Interface Design and Prototyping
Working at Olympus Winter & Ibe, we strived to support and enhance users' workflows through smart software. Ease of use of digital user interfaces, meaningful additions and emotional value not only creates more fun in daily operations, but saves valuable life time and money.
Design thinking workshops and ideations.
Concept drafts and design screens.
Low and high-fidelity prototypes for fast iterations.
"We are not the user" - Low- and high-fidelity prototypes were continuously tested internally and with real users. The resulting findings flowed directly back into new concepts and revised prototypes. We also built cardboard prototypes to make our ideas more tangible and easier to imagine.
We are not the user
Usability testing is mandatory to identify real pain points even if you think the solution is good. Involve real users as early as possible.
Planning UX research
Usability research can be very tough. You not only have to plan it very well, standing many hours in the operating room or facing blood and smells is also challenging.
Developer view
All stakeholders should have transparency to the project and your ideas. Developers in particular have a completely different view of concepts and designs. Manage them early to avoid problems afterwards.
